Training Duel

Two players, one task: whose training data builds the better AI?

Step 1 of 4

What you'll learn in this level

  • Why the choice of training pictures decides everything
  • What variety in training data means
  • Why more of the same is not better

Who trains the smarter AI?

You both have the same job: teach an AI to recognise cats in photos. Each of you may choose five training pictures - from the same pile.

Then both AIs have to judge the same six photos they've never seen before. Whose AI gets more of them right?

How it works

  1. Pick pictures

Each player picks five training pictures from the same pile.

  2. Train

Both AIs learn only from the pictures that were chosen.

  3. Test

Both AIs judge the same six new photos.

  4. Compare

Whose pictures were more varied? And whose AI did better?

Guess first, then experiment

Two players train the same AI. One uses 20 very similar pictures, the other 10 very different ones. Who wins?

How the duel works

  • Player 1 picks five training pictures, then hands the device over.
  • Player 2 picks five training pictures - without seeing what Player 1 chose.
  • Both AIs are tested on the same six new photos. More hits wins.
You can also play alone: just take both sides and try out which selection does better.
