Planning a Fair AI

A fair AI does not happen by itself. You have to plan it well. And at every single step.

People who build an AI think about four things from the start. Is it fair? Can you understand how it works? Does it keep your data safe? And is it safe?

Four Rules for a Fair AI

  1. Fairness

    An AI should treat all people just as well. No group may come off worse.

  2. Transparency

    You should understand how an AI works. And you should know how it decides about you.

  3. Privacy

    An AI should keep your data safe. Strangers must not simply see it.

  4. Safety

    An AI should run safely. It must not harm anyone.
