  • Why people should stay in control

Hard Choices

AI Ethics is about making sure artificial intelligence is developed and used in ways that are fair, safe, and beneficial for everyone.

It's like having rules and guidelines to make sure AI helps people without causing harm or being used unfairly.

Why AI Needs Rules

  1. Fairness

An AI should treat every person just as well. Nobody may come off worse. Not for their skin colour. Not for their gender. Not for their age.

  2. Privacy

An AI often works with data about you. So someone has to look after it well. Your data may only be used for what you allowed.

  3. Transparency

You should understand how an AI decides. That matters most when its choice changes your life.

  4. Human Control

People have to stay in charge of an AI. They have to be able to change its decision. And they have to be able to switch it off.

Here you meet hard questions about AI. Every one has good reasons on both sides. Each time you think about what you would do.

Guess first, then experiment

A hospital AI spots illnesses correctly in 95 out of 100 cases. That makes it better than most doctors. What do experts say?
